About the event
This "playshop" will combine the art of Capoeira and Ecstatic Dance to offer participants unique forms of interacting with themselves and one another. Joshua “Coração” began training Capoeira in 2008 under Mestre Carcará (Rochester NY). Capoeira Com Expressāo is a “contemporãneo” lineage emphasizing a playful, mindful and inclusive practice. Sophia has been facilitating dances for 6 years, using mixes with a wide range of music that allows the group to first root into their foundations then expand into the relational web.
This is a day for basking. We are crossing into the threshold of March, finally moving out of the final cold spell and into the sunshine of Spring. This is a call for celebration.
Dress comfortably (consider long pants/leggings), allowing 10 am - noon to begin to understand the unique expression of Capoeira, and the remaining 12 - 2pm to explore our own, unguided dance. A break will take…
