ABOUT YOUR HOSTS
Sebastian Inlet Surf & Sport is a gem. A surf shop tucked away behind an oak forest with a private beach access next to the world renowned break of Sebastian Inlet! While they are known best for their intensive surf lessons, children's surf camps, and their eclectic shop stocked with sustainable surf-wear and a unique collection of surfboards, they are also the hosts of a wide variety of cool events. From hosting weekends of reggae shows, weddings, environmental conservation summits, and women's retreats, this spot is truly one-of-a-kind. Sophlow has been partnering with their camps, lessons and Chica weekends for over 5 years, and Sophia considers this shop a kind of second home.
Sophia and Carly create a dynamic team of playful and passionate pursuants of the art of riding waves! TThey bring to the table over 40 years of combined surf experience. With Sophia having grown up surfing the very coast she now teaches on, and Carly having made her name in the waves of New Jersey, Jacksonville, and Hawaii, students can rest assured that they are in capable hands. Sophia and Carly have both had the joy of traveling the world in search of waves. While they've both spent time in contests, Sophia has done it more so as a hobby, where Carly has professionally made her way up to professional longboarding. They both are yoga instructors, and practice numerous creative endeavours in which they have the joy of titling their full time jobs. Carly is an artist, specializing in silversmithing and pottery. Her jewelry company, Kai Indie, combines her southern influence of turqoise and silver, with her surf vibe represented in sharks teeth and shells. She travels full time in her converted bus (the she built herself), surfing both the East and West coast of the states. While she travels, she mines crystals which she then uses to set sacred space during her yoga classes, sound baths and retreats. Sophia is a Wabasso local, raised on the heavy shorepound of this infamous wave. While she also has a love for longboarding, she is more of a thrill-seeker, saving her earnings just to drop in to 15 foot bombs in Indonesia with the hope of making her way out of their picturesque barrels. She pursued her career in massage, yoga, and surf coaching as a means to be able to work anywhere, and has been blessed with the possibility to trade her knowledge and skill everywhere she goes.
