Mantra Mondays

The word “mantra” is derived from the Sanskrit roots: “manas” meaning “mind” and “tra” meaning “tool.” Therefore, mantras are tools for the mind -- specifically tools to purify, focus, and transcend the limitations of the mind, revealing the Love, Wisdom, and Supreme contentment which remain. The class will be split into three parts. First, students will learn the gross, subtle, and Absolute meanings of the chosen mantra. Understanding the meaning is essential for the sound vibration to penetrate all parts of the mind, including the intellect, for a deeper experience. After an in depth breakdown of the mantra’s meaning, we move into feeling the sacred sounds. This portion of class consists of group chanting, singing (kirtan), and silent repetition, letting the mantra sweetly marinate the mind and heart. The class comes to a blissful close with the final period of relaxation, reflection, and integration, sending you on your way with a deeper sense of self-connection.
